Everything it does

Recorda records the screen and does the filming afterwards. Here is all of it.

Zoom and pan with intent

Zooms frame the window of the app you are using, move on when the app changes and keep the pointer in view. A second pass scores every moment (clicks, typing, shortcuts, finished work, a quiet beat after), gives the strongest few more depth and leaves out anything it is unsure of. Every zoom has a name and a sentence saying why.

Rests when nothing is happening

While the pointer only wanders (no click, typing, scrolling or shortcut) the view stays on the whole screen. Clicks made while the pointer is being flung about start no zoom, and a click undone with ⌘Z within a second makes none either.

A cursor that glides

The cursor is hidden while recording and redrawn afterwards on a spring: Slow, Smooth, Mellow, Fast, or your own tension, friction and mass. Hand tremor is filtered, idle gaps are held still and the glide eases onto each click.

Motion blur on the cursor and the camera

The cursor smears along its real path and the camera blurs while it zooms or pans. The preview and the export are drawn by the same renderer, so what you see is what you export.

4K that stays sharp

Recording follows the refresh rate of the screen (up to 120 fps), at the screen's own pixel size. Export goes up to 2160p, and 30, 60 or 120 fps. The picture is enlarged with Lanczos when zoomed in, so text stays sharp.

Shortcuts drawn as key caps

Off by default. When you turn it on, Recorda records ⌘, ⌃ and ⌥ shortcuts only, never plain typing, and draws them over the video as separate key caps that pop in. It needs Accessibility access and says so.

Hide private info

Recorda reads the recording on your Mac and puts blur boxes over emails, keys and tokens, card and phone numbers and machine addresses. The boxes stay on the spot in the recording as the camera moves.

Clean up an unwanted window

Put a box over an unwanted window and the stretch it was open. The box is filled with the real screen from just before and just after, not blurred or covered. The recording file is never changed. The editor side is built; recording windows separately is next.

Animated intros and outros

Built from a logo, a title and a subtitle: 21 spring-driven templates, each with its own exit, editable keyframes and saved brand kits. Hover a template in the gallery to watch it play with your own logo and words.

Transitions between clips

Every cut has its own style, length and curve: dips (None, Black, White, Zoom, Shrink, Blur, Slide) and blends (Dissolve, Push, Zoom through, Soft focus). Speed-ups ease in and out instead of jumping.

A timeline with keyframes

Tracks for zoom, keyboard, text, blur, pictures and sound, stackable in lanes. Keyframes on nearly every number, a graph view with bendable curves, magnet snapping, groups, layers and a cut tool.

Backdrops, frames and looks

Solid colours, about 80 bundled wallpapers, a picture of your own, or a two-colour gradient. Window, browser, laptop, display and phone frames. Look presets such as Product Hunt Launch, App Demo and Vertical Short set the style and the export size together, and My looks saves your own.

A camera bubble

Record your camera with the screen and draw it as a circle or rounded bubble. Move it to any corner, resize, mirror or hide it, and it glides to another corner when the pointer comes near.

Voice, music and sound effects

The microphone is levelled and turned down between words, and music is lowered while someone speaks. Three built-in music loops, plus soft clicks, whooshes and pops in three sound packs.

Captions

Words are recognised on your Mac when macOS offers on-device recognition, and become ordinary text items on their own lane that you can restyle and animate.

Export to fit

MP4 in HEVC at a screen-content bitrate, a Compatible H.264 option, ProRes, or GIF. Aspect ratios 16:9, 16:10, 4:3, 1:1, 9:16 or the source's own. A size limit of 10, 25, 50 or 100 MB lowers the bitrate to fit.

And a whole lot more

  • Pause and resume while recording (⌃⌥⌘P)
  • Record a display or a single window, with system audio and the microphone
  • Crop, drag the video on the canvas, trim, split, speed up and join clips
  • Copy, paste, duplicate and paste properties on any timeline bar
  • Arrow and box annotations that move, resize and fade like pictures
  • Click effects and the full macOS cursor set, drawn as vectors so it stays sharp
  • Focus mode that dims everything but the area around the pointer
  • Clean-up that finds pauses and mistakes, which you review before cutting or speeding up
  • Preview and export at the recording's own frame rate, never under 60
  • Haptic taps on snaps, splits, new zooms and finished exports
